After being out of work for 6 mo I lost my house and had to file bankruptcy. Given the outlook for the continued erosion of middle-class jobs I am swearing off ALL debt. I didn't become debt-free by the best means but I am debt-free. I think as the standard of living in America declines many Americans will suffer tremendous stress and depression over debt they can no longer afford to pay on. And so I would and will recommend any children of mine and others starting out or starting fresh. I too am concerned about the future of good-paying jobs.
