what is astounding to me is the level of knowledge an average American has of Economics. Basic Economics and Monetary theory has been totally stripped from most college General Education cirriculums in exchange for the myraid of junk sociology courses on 'Womyn's Role In Modern Society' and 'Racism: why Whitey Shouldn't get a Dime of Tax Money'. The scariest of all, and this comes from personal experience, is how America sweeps is 'collateral damage' under the carpet so as not to disturb all the other functioning capitalists. I feel like I live in an entirely different economy than my father.

Perfect picture to depict how hopelessly entrenched Obama is into the status quo. Great post here. Obama is for "change" just as much as the dollar is now worth a few pennies...Meanwhile, the sell out of white collar jobs to third world "skilled" workers has many on the left oddly applauding it whereas shouldn't this be the exclusive province of the right? When does the wholesale job sellout stop?

I wrote this piece to point out Obama is not</strong> going to represent us. This is a damning, expose on Obama and yes we are Dems. If you're a GOP, you're in just as much trouble. Romney, Giuliani, Huckabee, McCain all want the SKIL or massive H-1B and employment green card increases. I just did a piece on Giuliani on this blog as well as Ron Paul.

As far as Dems helping us, there are a few, they are the ones who have written:

S.1035 : H-1B and L-1 Visa Fraud and Abuse Prevention Act of 2007 (Durbin-Grassley)

H.R.2538 : To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide greater protections to domestic and foreign workers under the H-1B nonimmigrant worker program. (Pascrell)

H.R.2504 : To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act with respect to the admission of L-1 intra-company transferee nonimmigrants. (DeLauro)

H.R.548 : To establish a Congressional Trade Office (DeFazio)

Where are the Republicans on these? Beyond Chuck Grassley, who is fighting very hard for us and yes he is a Republican, face it, both parties are often bought and paid for.

I happen to agree with all your positions but have to laugh at your naivete in thinking Obama is going to help prevent massive H1B and Employment green card increases. He is about as clueless and removed from our concerns as Bush was about the illegals.

I don't see any Dem even acknowledging your concerns let alone do something about them. Just parse this line "We should allow immigrants who earn their degrees in the U.S. to stay, work, and become Americans over time.". First the foreign students in US univs are on F1 or J1 NON-immigrant visas. They are not immigrants - then to jump to saying a US degree is an automatic entitlement to citizenship is absurd. How are going to go from here to even a mildly restrictive stance and prevention of discrimination against citizens? Your only hope is to keep the status quo.

Good luck with your dems.
