I worked at Wipro for several years and recently left reluctantly. They are sending back their Indian hires and hiring locally. They have tied up with local universitites in Atlanta and are hiring fresh grads when noone else wants them. They also acquired Infocrossing 2 years ago which had 100 percent US citizens- about 1500 people. In fact they may be the only ones hiring in this industry. IBM, Accenture, et al have long ago let go of the US as their growth engine. The reason why this was not done earlier is because the laws allowed it to flourish. Their policies were legal enough as they did not sponsor GCs for their H1B hires, except in rare cases. Though you may look askance at this business model, unfortunately it was and still is well within the law. If you want blood look for it among the lawmakers.

This is making as mad as I have ever been, first they sold off the the manufacturing base. Than they decided to bring in cheap labor to do the reminal “jobs” that Americans wont. Now they are telling us that Americans are skilled enough to handle the software development and that we need to bring in foreign workers, all the while taking money from the American tax-payer (via TARP) to simply bring in foreign based workers. They are gutting America and were there wont be any jobs for Americans

They only hire Indians because they do not pay the market rate for people. This drives the the wages of nonindians in the US and is bad for everyone. Everyone except the corporate executives who get to pocket the money saved and will be gone by the time the lack of quality in the work done does any damage.
