Just as always the two choices for president are both bad.
Obama claims for change but the changes he is wanting to make is called socialism. Just one step this side of communism.
McClain is just another George W Bush with the same beliefs.
Neither candidate have a real clue what it is like to grow up poor and have to work until you die, hoping that your children have a better life than you did.
It would be nice if we had a blue collar worker running for president instead of just rich people who never really worked a day of their life. The presidency goes to the highest bidder, what a shame.

Lately I have been trying to find any kind of information for my project, but unsuccessfully. Now it seems like I finally found a lot. This is the greatest site among all internet-sources.

There is a lot of name calling but I see it from all angles, all sides. I don't personally condone it. That said, I do not believe wanting a controlled immigration policy is akin to the horrors of the Trail of Tears, or any of those analogies where it was their land to begin with. Those victims were US citizens, and they were already part of US society versus someone just entering the US unauthorized, which is more analogous to squatters and scabs who broke the picket lines, undercut wages.

We have nothing to do with that site, this post is purely about US jobs, global labor arbitrage, professional workers, labor economics.

It's also trying to get some focus on Obama's actual policy position, Professional workers, unions, guest worker Visas are a huge issue, especially for Technical careers, and the fact Obama is trying to spin it as some sort of immigration issue is outrageous but also indicative of how anti-US worker he will be.

I am very sad to hear the family is now in danger.
I saw a reference to this article on an ANTI site alipac.us. They are so full of anger and hatred. The ANTIs behavior is absolutely deplorable. These times remind of the Japanese Internment Camps, the Trail of Tears, Slavery-Jim Crow and Operation Wetback, all embarassing stains on our country´s otherwise remarkable history.

I will keep the family in my prayers. They are very courageous to try and tell their story. I hope for better times for them ahead.

Also meant to add that the real slippery slope to an H1B downgrade to a low-skills usage - Y2K fixes and routine sysadmin work - occurred during the Clinton presidency in 1998 when H1Bs went upto 195,000 and led to a deluge. Prior to that, they were used mainly in higher-skill categories only and with much less abuse than now. At least with Bush, there was no tweaking done to increase the quota from 85,000 and actually things are now coming under control as many companies are weaning themselves off the continuous H1 fix (since they run out on April 1).

Obama's rhetoric (that you quote here) on this central issue is absolutely the worst of any candidate. Hope the GOP keeps its current strength in the senate and house and thwarts Obama in 2009+.

Yes, McCain's record is not good. However, I sincerely believe the core of the GOP is always better than Dems on this issue. Senators like Sessions and DeMint and most of their colleagues support the real middle class.

I think your mis-perception that the jobs in IT which this article is about are middle class, by Dem definition. Dems consider them way over middle class - even wealthy so they are not worth protecting.

I don't support all Dems. I support the ones who are working for the US middle class and why I wrote this.
Your party just nominated McCain, who is one of the worst on guest worker Visas and doing corporate bidding. There are corporate representatives in both parties.

Sure, what do you expect from the Democrats? This comes naturally to people like Obama.

I blame you more for supporting the Dems than Obama who is simply stating his philosophy - everyone in the world is equal and we cannot do anything that is in American interest because that might offend other countries. He has never worked a day in a real competitive marketplace.
