Sponsors of More H-1B Guest Worker Visa Bills Who Lost Their Seats

November 5th, 2008 · 4 Comments

While Obama positions a notorious Corporate lobbyists’ wet dream as his chief of staff, how exactly did those who sponsored H-1B or other guest worker Visas devised to labor arbitrage U.S. citizens fare in this election?

  • Gordon Smith [R-OR] - Sponsored S.1029 a major H-1B increase plus promoted more guest worker Visas in his campaign
  •    Lost to Jeff Merkley - Numbers to be updated

  • John Sununu [R-NH] - Sponsored S.2839, a major H-1B and F-4 bill
  • Lost to Shaheen, 52% to 45%

  • Elizabeth Dole [R-NC]- Co-Sponsored S. 2868, which gave anyone a green card or Visa who simply obtained an advanced degree, a true disaster for US workers
  • Lost to Hagan, 53% to 44%

  • Tom Feeney [R-FL 24] - Co Sponsored H.R. 1930, yet another massive H-1B and F-4 increase against United States Professionals
  • Lost to Kosmas, 57% to 41%

  • Thelma Drake [R-VA-10] - Co-sponsored H.R. 1930
  • Lost to Nye, 52% to 48%

Could there be a mandate, completely unnoticed by the Press that Americans want our representatives to put U.S. Citizens, American workers first for jobs in America?

One major lobbyist group already issued a press release letting the entire world know that they not only own Obama but are guarateed to get their labor arbitrage agenda passed, regardless of what the American workforce thinks.

Thanks for the summary. Is Obama already reneging on his pledge to reduce the influence of lobbyists on Capitol hill? Did he lie to us? I hope not. I hope he will put the interests of American workers, blue-collar and white-collar, before those of corporate lobbyists.

Don’t be depressed about the darlings of the H-1b’s didn’t get re-elected. Hillary Clinton who is the biggest sponsor of H-1B’s is now the Secretary of State, it ain’t no accident. She is now free to search the world for the cheapest labor. Hooray H-1B.

The corporate pigs who want more H1-B’s are still Happy because their best friend Hillary is now Secretary of State. She is now free to search for the cheapest labor on the planet.
